REGULATE, RELATE, REASON – A Developmental Approach to Healing Trauma

October 2 – 3, 2018

Harmony Family Center and The Child Trauma Academy invite you to join us for our two-day event Regulate, Relate, Reason: A Developmental Approach to Healing Trauma.

REGISTRATION OPENS JULY 6TH

Day 1 will take place at The Mill & Mine, a state-of-the-art event venue nestled in historic downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. Breakout sessions will be held across the street at the beautiful Historic Southern Railway Station built in 1903.

Day 2 will take place at Harmony’s Montvale property. Camp Montvale is a picturesque camp nestled at the foot of Chilhowee Mountain and adjoins the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Since 2008, Camp Montvale has been the site of therapeutic family camps and camps for children who have been adopted or are in foster care from Tennessee. It also is an ideal setting for staff development and retreats. The 364-acre camp has cabins for up to 150 campers and staff, a meeting lodge with dining facilities, and open-air pavilions. The camp is home to miles of hiking trails, a small lake, playgrounds, a pool, a low ropes course, a climbing tower, volleyball and basketball courts, and equestrian facilities.

Day 1 – Conference at the Mill & Mine in Knoxville, TN

Price: $150
Dr. Bruce D. Perry, an internationally recognized expert on child psychiatry and the impact of trauma on children’s development, will lead the morning plenary session. This will include a presentation on the impact of trauma on the developing child, and implications for interventions by clinicians, educators, and the community based on the Neurosequential Model – a neuroscience based and developmentally respectful approach to clinical, educational and caregiving challenges. Afternoon workshops will explore how the Neurosequential Model can be used for the assessment and treatment of trauma. These workshops will feature presenters and panel discussions on the application of this Model for therapeutic intervention – the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) in education settings – the Neurosequential Model of Education (NME), and community and caregiving environments – the Neurosequential Model of Caregiving (NMC).
