Harmony’s mission is to serve children, families, and communities through counseling, education, and adoption. Since our founding in 1996 Harmony’s focus has been finding forever families for children, domestically, internationally, and through the foster care system. Our work with families often begins at placement and continues throughout the adoption journey.
NEW PARENT A CHILD WEBSITE UNVEILED
We are pleased to announce our new parentachild.org website. This website features Tennessee children and youth who, through no fault of their own, have been removed from their families due to abuse, neglect, or trauma. Now in foster care, the greatest wish of all the children and youth you see here is to be part of a forever family.
From the children who share their thoughts, we hear – I just want to be loved . . . I just want someone I can count on . . . I just want a family . . . I want a place to call home.
Is foster care and/or adoption right for you?
ASAP NATIONAL POST ADOPTION CONFERENCE – A SMASHING SUCCESS!
The inaugural ASAP (Adoption Support and Preservation) National Conference held in Nashville May 31 – June 2, 2015 was attended by 400 participants representing 31 states as well as American Samoa, who as a result of the conference, left more equipped and empowered to change the lives of children and adoptive families across the country through education, collaboration, and advocacy efforts.
Presented by Harmony Family Center in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the ASAP National Conference offered professionals, policymakers, and leaders in the fields of adoption, foster care, and child welfare the opportunity to learn and share effective practices and policies around post adoption services, providing knowledge, tools, and inspiration to enhance adoption preparation and post adoption services.

Our thanks to the many conference sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, panelists, and attendees, who helped make the conference a tremendous success!

MUDDER’S DAY MADNESS 2015 IS IN THE BOOKS
This year we added a few new obstacles and lots of smiling happy people. We could not have asked for a better weather day as the temperature was in the high 60’s at the beginning of race start at 10 a.m.
The race was divided into two waves. The first wave, for individual runners, started promptly at 10 a.m. The second, team wave, started at 10:20, allowing individual runners to clear the pasture area and first 3 obstacles before the teams set off.
After finishing the first section of the race with plenty of mud and great hugs, the three hundred runners vanished into Montvale’s scenic woodland trails. Runners navigated ravines, standing spider webs, and several creeks before entering the challenging, muddy, lake area where our wonderful volunteers were standing by to keep runners from getting stuck in the mud – finishing the remaining obstacles with a plunge through giant tubes into the mud pool.
While friends, family, and volunteers awaited the arrival of the runners we were entertained with great music, food, and fun. Runners old and young finished with plenty of mud and smiles. This year we started a new tradition – a team award that will stay at Montvale with the team winners’ names added each year.
We want to thank all of our runners, friends, and families for joining us this year and hope they will return and bring plenty of friends with them next year. Thank you to our generous sponsors and our many volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you!
