Therapeutic Services

Harmony provides intensive in-home trauma responsive services to adoptive and guardianship families through our Adoption Support and Preservation (ASAP) and Guardianship Support and Preservations (GSAP) programs. In addition, our staff provide therapeutic camps for children and families receiving these services at Harmony Family Center at Montvale. Other therapeutic camps are offered for youth in Independent Living programs with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, for grandparents who have kinship placement of their grandchildren, for children in inner-city programs, and for mothers and children who have experienced domestic violence.

The Neurosequential Model guides our clinical staff to choose the therapeutic approach that best fits the child’s developmental history and the family’s needs. Because one therapeutic approach does not fit all situations, our staff utilize a variety of evidence-based and evidence informed-models, including:

• Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART)
• Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
• Theraplay
• Animal-Assisted Therapy (Equine and Canine) – learn more about The Barn and the PAWS for Kids program
• Experiential Therapy (e.g., yoga, art, drumming, nature-based)
• Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
• Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
• Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
• Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC)
• Circle of Security (COS)
